Avago Introduces Lowest Power Consumption 10MBd Digital CMOS Optocoupler

Avago Technologies (Nasdaq: AVGO) announced the introduction of the ACNW261L ultra-low power 10MBd digital CMOS optocoupler. Compared to other 10MBd optocouplers on the market, the ACNW261L consumes less power and is designed specifically for high voltage insulation needs.

In electrical energy applications such as renewable energy power generation systems, industrial, medical equipment, and harsh environments, there may be a need to support 10 MBd speed communication within the system with lower power consumption and higher insulation voltage. The ACNW261L is the lowest power 10MBd optocoupler on the market today, with an enhanced insulation operating voltage of 1414VPEAK, a current consumption of less than 1.5mA over a -40oC to 105oC operating temperature range, and support for 3.3V and 5V supplies. The ACNW261L has an input-to-output isolation voltage of 5000 VRMS and reinforced insulation. This new optocoupler meets the IEC 60747-5-5 1414VPEAK operating voltage requirements. The internal clearance is 1mm, the external creepage distance is 10mm, and the external clearance is 9.6. Mm. By adding an internal Faraday shield, the ACNW261L has a minimum 20kV/μs at 1000V common-mode voltage and a typical 35kV/μs excellent common-mode transient immunity.

In addition to ensuring excellent electrical characteristics and market-leading performance over the -40oC to 105oC operating temperature range, the ACNW261L offers a wider range of application diversity, system reliability, and better performance. In order to improve the wide application of the bus interface, the enable control pin is added to the design to turn the CMOS output stage into a high-impedance state. The voltage slew rate controllable output ensures stable rise and fall times at operating temperatures and conditions, making it an especially important feature in parallel interface applications. The ACNW261L can operate from a 3.3V or 5V supply.

Avago also introduced the ACPL-C61L, a single-channel optocoupler with a 0.5mm internal clearance, in an extended SO-8 package (SSO-8), providing a reinforced insulation working voltage of 1230VPEAK and an external creepage distance of 8mm and electrical Gap, this optocoupler extends the application range of Avago's ultra-low power 10MBd digital CMOS optocoupler series.

Applications for these new 10MBd optocouplers include CANBus, RS-232, RS-485, I2C, Digital Fieldbus (FieldBus), and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter interfaces that meet the medical device standard IEC 60601-1 rev. 3 Requirements, medical equipment suppliers can also use the new ACNW261L digital optocoupler with 1mm internal clearance.
