According to recent reports, the new Haval M6 has already started its pre-sale phase, with a price range set between $8,900 and $11,200. Despite the strong performance of its sibling, the Haval H6, which topped the domestic SUV sales charts last month, the M6 is aiming high and hopes to make an impact. While the H6 remains the undisputed champion, the M6 does possess some distinct advantages, particularly in terms of pricing.
The main model of the M6 continues to feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Depending on the trim level, buyers will have several configurations to choose from. Although the official launch hasn't been confirmed yet, it’s rumored to happen either at the end of this month or early next month.
In terms of design, the Haval M6 retains the compact SUV category but draws heavily from the styling cues of its popular sibling, the Haval H6. However, the M6 tweaks the grille and headlight shapes for a sharper, more aggressive look. The dual-streamline antennas on the roof not only enhance aerodynamics but also improve signal reception. On the sides, the dual lines of the body give it a sporty yet robust appearance, with the straight-line treatment adding a touch of modernity. The overall dimensions measure 4,649mm in length, 1,830mm in width, and 1,705mm in height, with an axle distance of 2,680mm.
Inside, the M6 mirrors the minimalist and practical design philosophy of the H6. It comes equipped with features such as a multifunctional steering wheel, leather upholstery, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a fixed-speed cruise control. A slightly tilted 8-inch touchscreen central control display dominates the dashboard, providing a more immersive driver experience.
Under the hood, the M6 employs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing 150 horsepower and delivering a peak torque of 210 Nm. The six-speed manual transmission ensures smooth gear changes and stable power delivery. Fuel economy is reported to be slightly better than the H6's 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers, potentially reducing long-term maintenance costs. While it remains to be seen how the M6 performs on the road once it hits the market, its competitive price point and appealing features should attract significant attention. Whether it can outshine its illustrious sibling, the H6, remains to be seen, but given the strong brand reputation, the M6 is expected to perform well in the market.
