QuickLogic today announced the availability of the TAG-N wearable sensor hub development tool. This development tool incorporates QuickLogic's ArcticLink® 3 S2 ultra-low-power sensor hub, an algorithm developed by QuickLogic, and is directly connected to Nordic Semiconductor's nRF51822 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) development tool for wireless communication. OEMs can use this development tool to test, evaluate, and develop Bluetooth low-power wearables. QuickLogic is the inventor and pioneer of the Low Power Programmable Customization Standard (CSSP).

QuickLogic's custom-made standard product, the ArcticLink 3 S2, is a programmable sensor hub solution that consumes very little power and is only 150 microwatts, making it easy to support uninterrupted detection sensors in wearable devices. Nordic's ultra-low-power nRF51822 Bluetooth low-energy development tool connects wearables to the host for wireless communication. Combining TAG-N development tools with QuickLogic's best pedometer, gesture and context recognition algorithms will help OEMs significantly accelerate product development.

"We are pleased to announce the launch of our wearable sensor hub development tool in partnership with Nordic Semiconductor," said Frank Shemansky, Senior Director, Product Development, QuickLogic. "Our ultra-low-power sensor hub integrates advanced algorithms, combined with Nordic's low-power Bluetooth technology, we can provide customers with a wearable device reference design for rapid prototyping and motion monitoring Demonstration and testing of context, gesture and gesture recognition algorithms."

"QuickLogic's low-power sensor hub is unique in its industry and is the perfect complement to our ultra-low-power wireless technology," said Thomas Embla Bonnerud, director of product management at Nordic. "OEMs can use this new development tool to combine our technologies to provide end users with a full-featured wearable product while reducing time to market."

Supply

The TAG-Nsensor hu development tool will be available in November for $249.
