Panasonic Releases Firefox OS Smart TV with Surface Model

Matsushita said at the CES show in January that they plan to launch a new 4K TV series with Firefox OS this year. And now, this company has begun to show these new products.
The first batch of surface-screen televisions unveiled Panasonic's several new products that belong to a branch of the VIERA series of LED TVs, which also includes the first surface-screen TVs. These TVs have screen sizes ranging from 40 inches to 65 inches. The top models also use what Panasonic calls 4K Pro technology, which improves the color accuracy of the screen.
It is reported that Panasonic's 2015 new 4K TVs equipped with Firefox OS and Home Screen 2.0 include the CX850, CX800, CX750, CR730, CX700 and CX860 series, but the selling price and launch date of these products have not yet been announced.
With Firefox OS
Firefox OS is primarily an operating system for smartphones and tablets, but Panasonic uses it as the underlying system for its own home TV software, Home Screen 2.0. The user interface of the system is different from the mobile device equipped with Firefox OS. The main element is the icon called Decks, which allows users to use live TV, applications, and devices (automatically display the content stored on connected devices). .
In Home Screen 2.0, users can customize the home screen content, such as fixing applications and content, using search tools to find content from different sources, or accessing Internet content through the app store. Of course, you can also use the Firefox browser for web browsing.
Matsushita said that through the Firefox browser or other compatible applications, users can stream playback content from the mobile device or PC to the TV for playback.
Outside Sounds In fact, when Panasonic showed its 2015 new product at the CES in January, there was a voice from outside that Panasonic was undoubtedly the biggest short board in software despite having a very strong hard power. However, with the introduction of Firefox OS Panasonic TV this short board is expected to be made up.
Panasonic and Firefox hand in hand are still hard to say what kind of performance will be achieved, but now hardware alone can not let manufacturers succeed. Whether it is LG and WebOS, Samsung and Tizen, Sony and Android TV or Panasonic and Firefox OS, mature software ecosystem will undoubtedly help home appliance manufacturers have a better user experience and smart features.
However, with the recent withdrawal of Japanese TV makers, the prospects for the success of Panasonic 2015's new products are not clear. Earlier in February, there was news that Matsushita, Japan, would withdraw from TV production in China. The reason is that Panasonic and local manufacturers have fierce price competition and it is difficult to improve their earnings.
