Semiconductor spending exceeds $59 billion in 2011 IC Insights, a market research company, recently stated that semiconductor manufacturers' capital expenditures in 2011 will exceed US$59.07 billion, an increase of 15% from 2010.

According to IC Insights, “The capital expenditures of 25 semiconductor manufacturers in 2011 are shown on the graph. Five of them have capital expenditures exceeding US$3 billion. This figure is the same as in 2010 and only two in 2009. ”

The five companies are Samsung, Intel, TSMC, Globalfoundries and Hynix.

Of the top 10 manufacturers with the fastest growth in capital expenditures in 2011, 5 were from DRAM and flash memory manufacturers, and the fastest growing capital expenditure company was Intel, with $3.8 billion.
