Oculus acknowledges that room-level tracking is still problematic and promises to update it from Baidu VR

Previously we reported that the Oculus 1.11 update has improved the experimental room size tracking with 2 or 3 sensors, but the matter has not been truly resolved, and some users have reported that updates have made their experience worse. Oculsu now acknowledges this issue and promises that the next two updates will solve the problem.

Some users posted on the reddit social news online website said they were affected by the latest updates. The main problems were the virtual floor misalignment and the occasional jump of the sensor position. The problem caused the tracking performance of the motion controller Touch to be compromised, which made them feel very frustrated with the relatively expensive VR hardware.

Brendan Iribe, head of the Oculus Rift team, responded to the question and stated that he is improving the software core. He hopes that they can solve these problems and will release two updated versions. The first version 1.12 will be released this month. Compared with the stable tracking experience of HTC Vive, Oculus's room tracking problem keeps users skeptical. However, Oculus has said that their products are "fully capable" to achieve room size tracking, hoping that the next update will enable them to truly honor their commitment.
