On April 6, 2016, the Civil Aviation Administration formally agreed to use Hubei Ezhou Yanji as the recommended site for the Shunfeng Airport. The project includes a 4E-class freighter airport, a logistics and transportation base, and an industrial park. The goal is to establish it as the fourth aviation logistics hub in the world and Asia.
The 4E class refers to the runway length of 1800 meters (the highest level of length), the wings are within 52 to 65 meters, and it can take off and land the airport of a long-range wide-body passenger airplane like the Boeing 747, ranking second only to the 4F level.
According to the interface news report, the project includes a 3,600-meter-long dual-runway cargo airport, a logistics base and an industrial park covering an area of ​​15 to 20 square kilometers. The goal is to build one of the Asian air cargo hubs. After the project is completed, a long-range wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 747 can be taken off and land.
