European outdoor lighting project ESOLi implemented in Latvia

The European Commission's Energy Efficient Outdoor Lighting Project (ESOLi) is implemented in Latvia to provide better lighting for roads, residential areas, urban centers, secondary roads, industrial areas and parks. The project began in 2010 and was implemented in Latvia by Ekodoma Ltd.

The intelligent lighting streetlight system has been used in the Ogre region of Latvia, and the street lighting remote control and management system was installed at the end of 2010. A total of 40 streets have installed lighting management equipment that can control 3 lighting lines and 450 lights at the same time. Control and management systems help save energy and reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Lighting can be remotely controlled, ie users can control on/off and supervise the entire system from their computer. The management system enables users to control and manage the entire city's lighting, from the office to any place that can connect to the Internet. Compared to the old system, the Riga region saved 5,792 kWh of electricity and 2,299 kg of CO2 emissions through the use of an intelligent management system.
At present, about 8 million street lighting devices in Europe consume about 6 billion kWh of electricity per year. If the intelligent lighting system replaces the traditional street lighting system and uses adaptive outdoor lighting or LED lighting system, it can save more than 60% energy consumption.

In order to clear the obstacles of new technologies, the European Commission and the Smart Energy Europe Program jointly funded the launch of the Energy-Efficient Outdoor Lighting Project (ESOLi). The main purpose of the project is to increase understanding of intelligent lighting systems and to promote the use of these technologies throughout Europe. Improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the field of outdoor lighting, establish innovative financing schemes, and educate countries with knowledge of countries that do not have the system, and establish a wide network of national and European lighting experts to serve energy The company improves the market environment.
