Analysis of Recommended Catalogue for New Energy Passenger Vehicles for 1-12 Batches in 2017

Last year, the total sales of new energy passenger vehicles surpassed 560,000 units, driven by the expansion of the time-shared leasing market and the implementation of the double-integration policy. Additionally, the steady release of the "Recommended Vehicle Catalogue for Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehicles" played a key role in this growth. In 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a total of 12 batches of recommended model catalogs, featuring 3,233 models from 224 companies. Among these, 381 were new energy passenger vehicles, making up 12.8% of the total. Although the percentage was relatively low, these models were crucial in supporting the new energy vehicle market that year. Out of the 381 passenger models, 361 were pure electric vehicles, while 20 were plug-in models. These models represented a significant portion of the market and reflected the growing interest in sustainable transportation options. Beiqi and Jiangnan vehicles followed closely. For plug-in models, BYD, GAC, BMW Brilliance, SAIC, and Geely were among the top contributors. Notably, BYD led with 8 models listed in the catalog. Out of these, 221 models had a range between 150 km and 250 km, and 139 models had a range of 250 km or more. The highest range was achieved by two BYD models—BYD7006BEVG and BYD7006BEVK—with a range of 450 km each. This accounted for over 50.4% of the total models. Among them, the Lifan brand (LF7002GEV) from Chongqing Lifan Passenger Vehicle Co., Ltd. stood out with a battery energy density of 152.9 Wh/kg, the highest in the catalog. Both pure electric and plug-in models predominantly used ternary lithium batteries, which dominated the market due to their high energy density and performance. (Author: Zhang Ripples)
