At the 3rd China (Hangzhou) International Robot West Lake Forum, a groundbreaking event took place—the launch of the first China University Intelligent Robots Creative Contest. This competition marks a significant step forward in fostering innovation and creativity among students in the field of intelligent robotics.
Supported by prestigious organizations such as the China Higher Education Society, the Ministry of Education's Teaching Guidance Committee for Engineering Graphics, and the Organizing Committee of the Chinese Universities' Intelligent Robotics Creative Competition, the event was jointly organized by the Yuyao Municipal People's Government, the Zhejiang University Robot Research Institute, and the Chinese Higher Education Institute's Engineering Education Professional Committee.
The contest is open to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students across China, including those who graduated in 2018. It features two distinct categories: creative and competitive. The creative category centers around the theme "Smarter Robots Make Life Better," encouraging participants to design and develop intelligent robots that can enhance daily life through practical applications.
On the other hand, the competitive category challenges participants with the theme "Challenging the Limits - Design and Production of Rubik's Cube Robot." Competitors are required to apply knowledge from mechanical engineering, electronics, information technology, and natural sciences to build Rubik’s cube-solving robots equipped with two arms, capable of solving puzzles faster and more efficiently than humans.
As part of the Fifth China Robotics Summit, the deadline for submitting creative entries is February 28, 2018, while the competitive category has a later deadline on April 10. The finals will take place in Yuyao in May, offering a platform for students to showcase their innovative robotic designs.
This competition not only promotes technical skills but also encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and out-of-the-box thinking. It reflects the growing interest in robotics and artificial intelligence in China and highlights the potential of young minds to shape the future of technology.
