[Global Scientific Report] According to the Associated Press on July 24, Taiwan’s electronics manufacturer Foxconn plans to establish a liquid crystal display (LCD) plant in the United States, which has caused the US states to compete for Foxconn’s investment projects.
In recent decades, manufacturing industries in the Midwest have gradually emerged. If Foxconn can establish the first LCD factory here, it will be able to diversify again to produce high-tech consumer electronics products that are usually assembled in Asia.
In July, the Michigan State Legislature passed the company’s policy of creating tax incentives for job creation, including rewards for companies that have added more than 3,000 jobs. Wisconsin state legislators are also negotiating new incentives. Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, and Texas seem to be participating in the Foxconn investment project.
At present, Foxconn has not disclosed the reasons for establishing a plant in the United States, but it has listed seven states that are expected to build factories.
