Linear Technology Corporation introduces the H-grade version of the LT3518. The LT3518 is a 45V, high side current sense DC/DC converter designed to drive high current LEDs with constant current. With a 3V to 30V input range and a transient protection voltage of 40V, the LT3518 makes the device ideal for a wide range of applications, including automotive, industrial and architectural lighting.
The H-grade version can operate at junction temperatures up to 150 ÌŠC, compared to 125 ÌŠC for both E- and I-level versions. All electrical performance specifications are the same for the E, I, and H versions. The H-rated version of the device is tested and guaranteed to a maximum junction temperature of 150 ÌŠC. They are ideal for automotive and industrial applications where such applications are often subjected to high ambient temperatures.
The LT3518 can drive up to eight 300mA white LEDs with a nominal 12V input, making it ideal for applications such as automotive display backlighting. The LT3518 senses the output current on the high side of the LED for buck, buck-boost or boost configuration. Available in a 4mm x 4mm QFN package, it delivers up to 90% efficiency in boost mode. The LT3518 offers True Color PWMTM dimming to provide constant LED color over a dimming range of up to 3000:1. The CNTRL pin can be used to provide 10:1 analog dimming for less demanding dimming requirements. Its fixed frequency, current mode architecture ensures stable operation over a wide range of supply and output voltages. The frequency tuning pin allows the user to set the frequency from 250kHz to 2.5MHz to optimize efficiency while minimizing external component size.
