Troubleshooting and elimination of the auxiliary brake vacuum pump of Bora Car

A 2004 Bora 1.8L comfortable sedan, the owner of the car found a strange noise coming from the car. The repairman test found that the auxiliary brake vacuum pump kept moving for a long time and occasionally stopped for a few minutes.

Blown fuse caused a fault

After the fuse is blown, the air flow meter, the fuel tank ventilation valve, and the oxygen sensor heating coil have no working power. If the engine electronic control unit does not receive the load signal (air flow meter signal), and after comparing with the standard data, it is considered that the vacuum pressure inside the brake is insufficient, so that the auxiliary brake vacuum pump is controlled to operate, thereby causing the above failure.

Re-wrapping the finishing line, and then starting the test, the fault code can be cleared, and no longer reappear, the auxiliary brake vacuum pump does not move frequently, and the fault is completely eliminated.

When troubleshooting difficult problems, the idea must be broad, especially when several fault codes appear at the same time, and can not be cleared, usually there is a certain relationship between them, so we should use the method of connected thinking to analyze.

Short circuit protection:The following test shall be performed. Charge batteriesas specified in  ; use of 4.6.3 is permitted. Measure and record the OCV. Short each battery across all the positive and negative terminals with a total external resistance not greater than 50 milliohms. After one hour remove the short from across the terminals. Measure and record the OCV. Stabilize batteries at the normal conditions of 4.3.1 for not less than 2 hours. Chargebatteries in accordance with 4.6; use of 4.6.3 is permitted. Stabilize batteries at normal conditions for not less than 2 hours, then discharge the battery in accordance with 4.7.2.3. The battery shall meet the requirements of 3.7.2.3.
