BP and General Electric Announce Joint Development of Hydrogen Power Station

BP (British Petroleum) informed the Chinese media yesterday that it has started joint development and deployment of a hydrogen power generation project with GE (General Electric) to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power generation.
BP said that in the foreseeable future, the world will continue to use a large amount of fossil fuels, such as natural gas and coal, to generate electricity. However, advances in technology now enable companies to produce electricity in a clean way, such as by collecting hydrogen from fossil fuels, collecting carbon dioxide and burying it deep in the formation. To advance this technology, BP and GE will collaborate on technology in the areas of power generation, collection and carbon storage.
According to the reporter's understanding, the two sides believe that the most suitable mode of cooperation may be to set up a joint venture to invest in hydrogen power generation projects and sign a joint development agreement to guide the development of related technologies.
