introduction

With the development of social information and the rapid development of the Internet, the demand for providing data services in the wireless environment has become more urgent. Traditional wireless mobile networks are usually supported by a fixed infrastructure, which cannot meet the requirements of people's growing communication services. A new type of wireless network, AdHoc network, emerges. Ad Hoc network, also known as mobile ad hoc network and multi-hop network, has the characteristics of flexible and fast fine mesh, and is not affected by wired network. It can be widely used in military and rescue situations where network facilities cannot be pre-provisioned or inconvenient. In addition, the Ad Hoc network is developing in the direction of network interconnection, and Internet access is one of the main contents.

Ad Hoc wireless network has its own particularity. When constructing a wireless working network that is actually used, it must fully consider the application scale and scalability of the network, as well as the reliability and real-time requirements of the application, and select the appropriate network topology. At present, Ad Hoc wireless networks are developing in a large-scale direction, and gradually show a trend of grading, represented by a two-stage network. In a two-stage network, the topology is shown in Figure 1. The network is divided into two levels: backbone network and subnet. In the subnet level, each subnet can form a separate Ad Hoc network, and different routing protocols can be used. The backbone network is composed of a multi-protocol router node and a common node. The common node mainly completes the distribution of data and control information in the backbone network. The multi-protocol router is responsible for realizing the management of the subnet in addition to the functions of the ordinary node. Control and data interaction are the core devices of the backbone network.

As a node of the backbone network, the multi-protocol router runs a certain Ad Hoc network routing protocol to implement the addressing function of the backbone network.

In a hierarchical Ad Hoc network, a multi-protocol router interacts with a subnet gateway to implement subnet management. The communication in the subnet is similar to the general Ad Hoc network; the communication between the subnets needs to be transited through the subnet gateway node and the backbone network node, which can be divided into two cases—the same router under the isomorphic/heterogeneous subnet Communication and communication between homogeneous/heterogeneous subnets under different routers. In order to achieve effective communication between subnets, the router needs to perform mutual conversion between multiple protocols.
