A functional timing controller and local dimming LED backlight combination solution is used to manufacture low-volume, next-generation 3D LCD TVs at lower cost.
According to Microsemi, this combined solution is a scalable local dimming LED backlight solution that includes the Sony CXD4730GB timing and lighting controller, as well as the Microsemi DAZL! 2000 Series 32-port logic chip (LX24232) and 8 Port LED driver (LX23108L) constitutes an LED backlight drive solution. Can be applied to LCD TVs of all sizes. For larger LCD screens, a local dimming LED backlight solution consisting of n LX24232+4n LX23108Ls can be used.
Key features of the Microsemi DAZL! 2000 series of LED control and driver ICs:
1. The power supply of the backlight device adopts adaptive digital control to improve system efficiency;
2. SPI communication bus connected to the video controller or external FPGA;
3. Each channel has a flexible scanning interface with programmable phase delay function;
4, configurable PWM frequency;
5. Advanced LED current settings optimized for 3D support;
6. Voltage monitoring of each LED light string to realize fault detection and protection;
7. FET array with internal overheat protection;
8. Each LED controller uses up to four 8-port LED drivers for optimal heat distribution;
9, ±1% high precision channel current regulation;
10. Optional FPGA/MCU control module controls the LED luminosity in a closed loop manner;
11, in line with RoHS standards.
