Sapphire substrate wafers are the core of the LED industry chain. In the past, the manufacturing technology of such products was monopolized by foreign companies. At present, LED substrate wafers used in domestic display, communication, lighting and other equipment are basically dependent on imports. Domestically, only sapphire crystals or flakes can be exported to overseas, processed into substrate materials and then sold back to China.
At present, Jiaxing has officially produced and sold 2-inch sapphire substrate wafers, which meets the national industry standards implemented on January 1, 2010, and plans to develop 4-inch sapphire substrate wafers in June this year. The completion and operation of the Jiaxing Jingdian project has changed the situation of China's sapphire wafers relying on imports.
At present, Chongqing Silian Group has also achieved large-scale production of sapphire wafers through overseas mergers and acquisitions. The company is expected to form an annual capacity of 500,000 sapphire wafers at the end of April, and its domestic market orders have exceeded 700,000 this year. .
