Special Features of Plateau Generators:

Plateau motors are designed for locations above 1,000 meters. According to national industry standards, they are categorized into different altitude levels: up to 2,000 meters, 3,000 meters, 4,000 meters, and 5,000 meters.

Due to environmental factors on the plateau, plateau motors require adjustments in insulation strength, electrical clearance, temperature rise limits, and anti-corona measures compared to regular motors:

1. As altitude increases, insulation strength decreases by 8–15% per 1,000 meters. Therefore, the motor’s insulation must be enhanced.

2. Higher altitudes reduce the breakdown voltage of electrical gaps, so the electrical clearance should be increased accordingly.

3. The corona starting voltage decreases at higher altitudes, so anti-corona measures must be strengthened.

4. Air cooling becomes less effective at higher altitudes, reducing heat dissipation and increasing temperature rise by 3–10% per 1,000 meters. Thus, the temperature rise limit must be adjusted.

Gasoline / Diesel Generators

If the altitude exceeds 1,000 meters, a carburetor designed for plateau conditions is required. This includes adjusting the valve, increasing air intake, and boosting intake pressure.
