Affected by the price war of downstream applications, the price of packaged devices has plummeted. At present, the domestic mainstream LED packaging device 2835 has been reduced from 5-8 cents in the first half of 2015 to the current 3-5 cents. The profit margin of packaged devices is shrinking, causing packaging companies to fall into the trap of “incremental gains”.


Based on this, the market situation of phosphors and glues in 2015 was relatively sluggish, and the phenomenon of price declines was prominent. The decline in phosphor prices continues to squeeze its profit margins. According to relevant surveys, the gross profit margin of China's LED phosphors in 2012 generally remained above 40%, but in 2013, especially in the first half of 2014, the gross profit margin of many companies has been as low as 30%, and some companies have gross margins as low as 20%. %, the gross profit margin of the company has further decreased.


In order to reduce costs, more and more LED packaging companies choose to use domestic glue. Foreign brands are under great impact in the low-profile glue market with relatively low technical content, while the high-tech glue with higher technical content is less affected. With the development of the LED industry entering the deep water area, the pattern of packaging enterprises has changed, which has also greatly affected the judgment of the accessories manufacturers on the market. At the same time, the lack of standardization in the LED industry, the market mixed situation is difficult to change in a short time, especially in the low-end market, the price is lower, it is staggering.


Even if the cost of domestic packaging materials is extremely high, but the packaging manufacturers are more willing to purchase higher-priced imported accessories. Obviously, the domestic auxiliary materials factory as a latecomer still has no trust in the high-end field. Under the background of the low-cost grabbing of peers under the import competition, the survival of domestic packaging materials enterprises will become increasingly difficult.


The risk of pledge is large, and the patent becomes a "roadblock"


Whether it is glue or phosphor, it belongs to the LED accessories industry that “later want to live”. Most of the glue still stayed at the stage of replacing international brands such as Dow Corning and Shin-Etsu, and the phosphor started relatively late.

According to industry insiders, in general, big companies have better cooperation in collecting money, but small factories are more troublesome. The auxiliary materials industry has eliminated a number of small companies with no technical content, leaving behind several powerful companies, and there will be a strong and strong situation. For example, LED silicone manufacturers have 40-50 in the past few years, and now there are fewer than 10 companies on the market.


At the same time, patent risks have led to weaker bargaining power of domestic excipients. Throughout all domestic phosphor companies, in addition to Mitsubishi Chemical, a Sino-foreign joint venture that fully masters technology patents, other companies have weaker bargaining power for packaging companies, especially domestically produced unknown phosphor companies. For domestic enterprises that have shortcomings in patents, they should abandon the idea of ​​winning by price, familiarize and use patents from a higher perspective, apply for patents as much as possible, build their own intellectual property system, and become passive.
