The original fluorescent lighting of this hypermarket has been replaced by LED lamps with a total length of 2.5 kilometers. These LED luminaires not only cut half of their electricity consumption, but LED lighting integrates Philips' visible light communication technology. In this way, the illumination light produced by each luminaire is sent to a unique code that is invisible to the human eye.
Consumers interested in using the service need to install the Carrefour mobile app on their smartphone. The shopper's smartphone camera works with Carrefour's dedicated app to read these signals, allowing consumers to see where they are in the 7800 square meter hypermarket, find the items they need, and be guided to promotions and Product area.
If the customer is in the juice aisle, the app can display coupons or more detailed information on the products on the shelf.
