Net fee has dropped by 50%! Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Continuing to speed down fees this year

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that one of the major tasks for operators in 2016 is to continue to increase the speed and reduce fees.

Looking back at the past 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that mobile, China Unicom, and telecommunications have strictly implemented the regulations and achieved the established goal that the average tariff level of fixed broadband and mobile traffic has dropped by more than 50% and 39%.

At the annual summary meeting, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that in 2016, it will continue to focus on broadband network speed-up and fee-reduction actions, formulate an annual action plan for broadband network construction and speed reduction and fee reduction, and strive to basically achieve full coverage of fiber-optic networks in all district-based cities in 2016, more than 20M. The proportion of high-speed broadband users exceeds 50%, and 4G users reach 600 million.

It can be seen that the “speed increase and decrease of fees” in 2016 is still the focus of work. Industry analysts believe that the advancement of Guangjin’s copper retreat, the addition of private broadband, and the comprehensive re-sale of 4G services by imaginary business have exacerbated market competition. All will push operators to speed up and reduce fees.

At present, the three major operators have already proposed the goal of entering the 'all-optical network era' in 2016. As the user coverage increases, the space for tariff reduction will increase.
